Why I Built This
I built Prysm because I was tired of dating apps that felt like they were working against me. Tired of paying to unlock conversations that should have been free from the start. Tired of matching with people who wanted completely different things. Tired of apps that were clearly designed to keep me scrolling, not to actually help me find someone.
I looked at what Tinder, Hinge, and Bumble were doing and I saw the same playbook everywhere: paywall the basics, manufacture urgency, and optimize for engagement over outcomes. They don’t make money when you find someone — they make money when you don’t.
Prysm is the app I wished existed. Messaging is free because talking to your matches shouldn’t cost money. Compatibility is built on real questions because photos alone don’t tell you if someone wants the same future you do. And pricing is honest because you deserve to know exactly what you’re getting.
This isn’t a side project. This is the standard I think dating apps should be held to.
